Learn Softball with Jordyn

Hi, I’m Natalie Toups! I am currently a junior at Texas Tech University majoring in kinesiology with the Miner in Spanish, trying to become a PA to work in pediatric surgery. I’ve played softball for 12 years, including six years of competitive fast-pitch select and high school ball. I’m a power hitter with a strong defensive skill set—especially as a catcher, outfielder, and first baseman—but I’ve trained in every position except pitcher. I’m passionate about developing athletes both physically and mentally, and I’m currently working on my personal training certification to provide custom workouts for players. I’m also certified in CPR and BLS. My goal is to bring out the best in every athlete through energy, discipline, and love for the game.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonAssess and ask questions of what they know and examine their skills. Then based on that give some feedback and informed them on what I think we should work on.
Lesson 11+Throughout the sessions, I will continue to check up on the client, reassessing them, providing feedback, asking questions about how they feel in their progress with continuing our goals, providing at home exercises if wanted and practice.
Lesson 4-10This will be a checkup session asking how they feel about how our practices have been going, and if they would like to change anything. I will also reassess throughout these sessions, providing feed back, answer questions, providing at home exercises if wanted and continuing our chosen practice.
Lesson 2-3This session will mainly be based on the client’s goals and technique. Practicing and learning what is needed.

Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids my practices are assessed by age. I have a lot of experience working in childcare and knowledge of childcare development from classes at Texas Tech and personal experience working with children. In session with kids, I slow the progress giving them many encouraging affirmations, understanding, and engagement. Eye coordination in child growth is extremely important to the child and will assess our practices as so.

Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I will always assess each client as their own, but in the most part, I am more firm with teenagers informing them that if they want to get better, they have to practice and giving them more responsibility.

What you need to bringIt is preferred if you bring your own glove, bat helmet, softballs if 12 inch is not preferred and any other equipment based on your position (example: face mask, catchers gear)

What I can bringI bring a range of equipment to each practice, including 12-inch softballs, bats (31", 29", and another size), a hitting net and tee, gloves, helmets, batting gloves, weights, athletic bands, and various technique tools.
