What do coaches say about teaching kids and youth?

O

Coach Onur

volleyball coach

When working with kids in volleyball, I add up my classes by building each one on top of the last. In the first sessions, I keep it simple and focus on the basics—like passing, serving underhand, and just getting comfortable handling the ball. As they start to feel more confident, I introduce setting, controlled passing, and more consistent serving. As we progress, I add in more advanced skills like hitting approaches, digging, or blocking, and eventually bring in rotations and full game play. The most important part is keeping it fun, structured, and progressive—always tying new skills back to what they’ve already learned so they feel motivated and excited to keep improving.
